I watched a meeting on CSPAN the other day between Saed Erakat and Aaron David Miller. (Following please find my research that watching this led to.) Please be patient and read all of this fully. Notice Scoop Jackson's relationship not only to JFK but to Richard Perle and the NeoConservatives.

Ben Wattenberg: And then you ended up with Scoop Jackson? How did that happen? Senator Jackson, my hero, your hero, our hero, who really embodied hawkishness?
Richard Perle: In a good cause always.
Ben Wattenberg: Right.
Richard Perle: It was a complete accident although it traces back. Albert Wohlstetter phoned me one day. I was still a graduate student at Princeton doing some research in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and he said, could you come to Washington for a few days and interview some people and draft a report on the current debate shaping up in the Senate over ballistic missile defense, which was a hot issue in the Nineteen Sixty-nine debate. This was in Nineteen Sixty-nine. And he said, I’ve asked somebody else to do this too, and maybe the two of you could work together. The someone else was Paul Wolfowitz. So Paul and I came to Washington as volunteers for a few days, to interview people, and one of the people we interviewed was Scoop Jackson and it was love at first sight. I will never forget that first encounter with Scoop. Here we were a couple of graduate students, sitting on the floor in Scoop’s office in the Senate, reviewing charts and analyses of the ballistic missile defense and getting his views on the subject. Before I went back up to Cambridge, Scoop said, you know, you’re never…
Ben Wattenberg: To Cambridge or to Princeton?

Jackso-Vanik amendment wikipedia
EXCERPT:
The amendment denies most favored nation status to certain countries with non-market economies that restrict emigration, which is considered a human right. Permanent normal trade relations can be extended to a country subject to the law only if the President determines that it complies with the freedom of emigration requirements of the amendment. However, the President has the authority to grant a yearly waiver to the provisions of Jackson-Vanik, and these waivers were granted to the People's Republic of China starting in the late 1970s and later to Vietnam.
[edit] Background
Exit USSR visa of the type 2. For those who received permission to leave the USSR forever and lost Soviet citizenship. Not all who wanted were able to receive this kind of exit visaIn 1972 as the Cold War and the ongoing Arab–Israeli conflict were intensifying, the Brezhnev government imposed the so-called "diploma tax" on would-be emigrants who received a higher education in the USSR. While the professed justification for this tax was to repay state expenses for public education, this measure was designed to combat the brain drain caused by the growing emigration of Soviet Jews and other members of the intelligentsia to the West.

This development caused international protests. Twenty-one United States Nobel Laureates issued a public statement condemning it as a "massive violation of human rights." The Kremlin soon revoked the tax but imposed additional limitations, effectively choking off emigration, even for family reunification. A case could languish for years in the OVIR (ОВиР) department of the MVD. An often-cited but rarely explained official ground for the refusal to issue an emigration visa were "national security reasons."
[edit] Effects
At first the Jackson-Vanik amendment did little to help free Soviet Jewry. The number of exit visas declined after the passing of the amendment, as the USSR felt the external pressure was harming its credibility. However, in the late-1980s Mikhail Gorbachev agreed to comply with the protocols of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

Since 1975 more than 500,000 refugees, many of whom were Jews, evangelical Christians, and Catholics from the former Soviet Union, have been resettled in the United States. An estimated one million Soviet Jews have immigrated to Israel in that time.

Jackson-Vanik also led to great changes within the Soviet Union. Other ethnic groups subsequently demanded the right to emigrate, and the ruling Communist Party had to face the fact that there was widespread dissatisfaction with its governance.

Former Soviet dissident Natan Sharansky wrote in his 2004 book The Case for Democracy:

NCSJ: Rescind Jackson-Vanik for Russia
April 29, 2010
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- A group that advocates for Jews in the former Soviet Union endorsed efforts to lift restrictions on Russia's trade with the United States.

Former Soviet states are still subject to review under standards established by the 1974 Jackson-Vanik amendment, which linked trade status to human rights, particularly among Jews. Jewish communities in those nations in recent years have lobbied for its rescission, and have garnered support in both parties.

"Russian Jewish life has flourished dramatically since the Soviet collapse in 1991," Mark Levin, who directs the NCSJ: Advocates on behalf of Jews in Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic States & Eurasia, told a joint hearing of the U.S. House of Representatives subcommittees on Europe and Trade on Tuesday. "What has happened is nothing less than a historic rebirth of a people and their culture after decades of persecution."

Also testifying on behalf of removing the restrictions was Mark Talisman, who heads the Project Judaica Foundation, which seeks to preserve Jewish culture. Talisman helped draft the amendment as chief of staff to the late U.S. Rep. Charles Vanik (D-Ohio), who shepherded the law through the House.

Resistance to removing the restrictions comes from some in the business and human rights communities who say that Russia continues to maintain centralized controls over business and religious expression.

Wohlstetter and his wife, Roberta Morgan Wohlstetter, also counseled both Democratic and Republican administrations, including advisers to President John F. Kennedy during the Cuban missile crisis in 1962.[9] They received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Ronald Reagan on November 7, 1985.

During his long career, Wohlstetter also taught at UCLA and the University of California, Berkeley, in the early 1960s. From 1964 to 1980, he taught in the political science department of the University of Chicago, and chaired the dissertation committees of Paul Wolfowitz and Zalmay Khalilzad. He is often credited with influencing a number of prominent members of the neoconservative movement,[10] including Richard Perle (who, as a teenager, dated Wohlstetter's daughter Joan).[11]

In 1995, Erekat served as Chief Negotiator for the Palestinians during the Oslo period. He was then elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council in 1996, representing Jericho.[1] As a politician, Erekat was considered to be a Yasser Arafat loyalist. including the Camp David meetings in 2000 and the negotiations at Taba in 2001. Erekat was also, along with Arafat and Faisal Husseini, one of the three high-ranking Palestinians who asked Ariel Sharon not to visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque in September 2000[7], an event which allegedly sparked off the Second Intifada. He also acted as Yasser Arafat's English interpreter. When Mahmoud Abbas was nominated to serve as Prime Minister of the Palestinian Legislative Council in early 2003, Erekat was slated to be Minister of Negotiations in the new cabinet, but he soon resigned after he was excluded from a delegation to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. This was interpreted as part of an internal Palestinian power struggle between Abbas and Arafat.[6][8] Erekat was later reappointed to his post and participated in the 2007 Annapolis Conference, where he took over from Ahmed Qureia during an impasse and helped hammer out a joint declaration.[9]

Erekat is one of the more prominent Palestinian spokespeople in the Western media.[10] Erekat has characterized the IDF's 2002 assault in the Palestinian town of Jenin as a "massacre" and a "war crime", charges that the IDF has denied.[11]

In April 2008, Erakat visited the Palestine Center in Washington DC and gave a lecture entitled "Five Months after Annapolis: Where Are We Headed?" Read the transcript online: [1]

Wow — the Eyewear Industry Is an Incredible Ripoff, But There Are Alternatives

Those of us who need prescription eyewear need prescription eyewear. Are you wearing yours to read this? Imagine if you weren’t. Imagine life without your glasses for a year, a week, an hour. Yet many health insurance plans, especially for the unemployed or self-employed, don’t cover them.

Mine doesn’t.

Last year, I went shopping for no-line progressive bifocals in small oval metal frames. Name brands mean nothing to me. Price does. My high astigmatism and need for bifocals disqualify me from those buy-one-get-one-free deals, which almost always involve only single-vision specs.

In store after store, megachains and optical boutiques alike, small oval metal frames fitted with lenses matching my prescription started at $300. One popular shop quoted me $582 for the lenses alone.

I bought a pair of no-line progressive bifocals in small oval metal frames for $44 online. I’m wearing them right now.

Perhaps because prescription glasses are where medicine meets fashion, they’re among the world’s most overpriced merchandise. Imperfect eyesight isn’t your fault: You can’t make yourself nearsighted by eating too much fudge. Yet if your health plan excludes vision care, you’ve spent years at the mercy of a $64 billion industry characterized by 500-percent markups.

This has begun to change over the last few years. A knowledge-is-power, power-to-the-people, Web-driven DIY wave is rocking the optical industry’s very foundations. Dozens of companies now sell prescription glasses online, frames and lenses included, for as little as $7.95.

It works like this: Google “cheap glasses” to find a frame you like at a price you like at a site you like. (Among the most popular are 39DollarGlasses, ZenniOptical — where I bought mine — and Goggles4U.) Use the virtual fitting mechanism to “try it on.” Type in your prescription (obtained from an actual eye doctor), pupillary distance (aka PD, derived by measuring the space between your pupils with a ruler), address and payment information. Send.

It’s a virtual myopian/hyperopian/presbyopian Tea Party, led largely by Minnesota software engineer Ira Mitchell, who launched his revolutionary GlassyEyes blog (its motto is “Saving the World from Overpriced Glasses!”) in 2006. Packed with forums, product reviews, discount deals, and tips for buying specs online, it’s the vision-impaired version of Yelp.

“There is no appreciable functional or material difference” between prescription eyewear bought online and bought in brick-and-mortar stores, Mitchell tells me, but in stores “the cost to the consumer is anywhere from four to ten times more. It turns out that they’re making ridiculous margins on the frames, the lenses and the coatings.”

Complete with antiscratch coatings and other pluses, his own glasses cost between $30 and $60 per pair online. Over the last three years, he’s bought around 40 pair — because, at that price, he can.

Mitchell was appalled when he first began researching wholesale prices for optical merchandise and realized that opticians acquire lenses for as little as $3 each. “I’ve easily paid twenty times that when I didn’t know any better,” he says.

Granted, these glass, plastic, polycarbonate or polymer blanks must be ground to fit frames and prescriptions, and this takes work, but it’s not rocket science. Typically, lens grinding is done by optical laboratory technicians. According to PayScale.com, OLTs in the United States earn between $9.73 and $14.40 per hour. Most learn on the job, and have only a high-school diploma or a GED. No specific certification is required.

The fleecing, Mitchell says, is just as bad on frames.

“A consumer-level frame costs significantly less than $10 to manufacture. The rest is operations, licensing and profit. Think about that the next time you pick up an average $150 frame. These aren’t markedly different or superior to the $30 glasses available from reputable online dealers — and those include lenses, probably the same ones you were just about to pay $200 for in the store.”

A key to the industry-standard overpricing is the fact that a single corporation — Luxottica, the world’s largest eyewear firm — owns many retail eyewear chains and many popular eyewear brands. Based in Milan, Italy, Luxottica owns and operates LensCrafters, Sears Optical, Target Optical, Pearle Vision, Sunglass Hut, Ilori, and other chains in the United States, along with yet more chains throughout Asia, Europe, Africa, India, the Antipodes and the Middle East.

Luxottica owns Ray-Ban, Oakley, Oliver Peoples, Vogue, and other brands, and makes glasses under license for over a dozen designer labels including Versace, Prada, Bulgari, DKNY, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, Tiffany, and more. As if that isn’t enough, Luxottica is also the parent company of a vision-care benefits program, EyeMed.

Eyewear prices in brick-and-mortar stores stay artificially high, Mitchell says, due to “the lack of real competition, inasmuch as Luxottica owns massive manufacturing, licensing, retailing and insurance interests” — albeit EyeMed is “not so much insurance as a marketing ploy to get people to buy from their stores at a discount and to force the remaining independent stores to buy Luxottica controlled frames. But, again, most people are unaware of this.”

Because one company holds a near-monopoly on brick-and-mortar eyewear stores, “pricing models are somewhat static across the lot of them. They also have a knack for using the mattress sale model … constantly running sales that seem too good to pass up when in reality they’re still making enormous profits.”

“Semi-Annual 50% Off Sales Event,” reads a current LensCrafters ad. But the frames in question range from around $100 to around $300, and that’s without lenses.

“People pay what the brick-and-mortars are asking, primarily because the vast majority don’t know there are better, cheaper options,” Mitchell says.

As with any purchase — in fact more than with most purchases, as this involves eyesight — it pays to research each company’s delivery and return policies, Better Business Bureau status, and accessibility. Does its Web site list a phone number? If not, why not? If so, call it. Can you reach live people? Are they knowledgeable about your prescription? Does the company have its own in-house optometrists? It should. If you care about brand names, can you ascertain that the logo-bearing frames sold by any given company aren’t counterfeits? Factories churn out fakes.

While many online outfits sell real and bogus designer frames, the least expensive frames available online are unapologetically nameless generics: current and classic styles, sans logo. As is true with most consumer products, they’re not necessarily worse than their name-brand counterparts. After a year-plus of daily use, my $44 generics still look new. (That being said, I should have paid a few dollars more for higher-quality polycarbonate lenses and I should have sought bifocals with a wider middle-vision band, but these errors were my own, not the company’s.)

“Very high-priced frames may have somewhat better materials,” Mitchell says, “but from my experience, the no-names have been very well made.” Having owned dozens of generic pairs, he’s experienced “no more issues with them than with the name brands from LensCrafters. I think they’re pretty much on par.”

These days, he notes, “there are a lot more online retailers now than at the end of 2006. There aren’t a whole lot more reputable ones, however. I’ve shopped at over a dozen, and narrowed things down to about three or four that I feel comfortable recommending to others. As this is a fully custom market, mistakes can enter the process anywhere from the initial customer entering prescription information to the production process. I’ve found that a few of the sites do a better job than others at fixing mistakes. Some do better at this than the traditional stores.

“Prices haven’t dropped at all in the traditional brick-and-mortars, but downward price pressure from Wal-Mart will undoubtedly start to make an impact in certain parts of the country. I saw a sign in a
Wal-Mart recently for $38 glasses. The selection was tiny, but we’re starting to see a price intersection.”

The first online eyeglasses company was Houston-based FramesDirect. In 1992, optometrists Dhavid Cooper and Guy Hodgson closed their several Texas brick-and-mortar shops, then pondered their future.

“We knew that we wanted to sell eyewear in all fifty states 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year,” Hodgson says. “We had no idea how to do this.” Renting a small office, they installed computers.

“When you talked about the Internet in those days, no one knew what you meant. Search engines were in their absolute infancy. We thought a 56k modem was blisteringly fast.”

Cooper had won a Surgeon General’s Commendation Award in his native South Africa for creating a program providing the poor with recycled glasses for free. Hodgson specialized in treating the nearly blind. Barely fluent in email, the pair created a basic Web site, offering designer glasses at low prices because, unlike brick-and-mortar opticians, they needed to pay neither storefront rent nor employees’ salaries, nor did they need to keep large quantities of merchandise in stock.

“Everyone around us thought we were completely mad: Eye doctors, giving up their lucrative practices to go into this weird thing,” Hodgson laughs. But once orders started pouring in, “The whole optical industry completely shunned us. They said we were ruining them.”

At eyewear conventions, he and Cooper wore their nametags backward to avoid verbal abuse. Since then, dozens of imitators have emerged, many based overseas and most able to offer even lower prices because they sell generics. Buying prescription eyewear is like buying prescription drugs: It’s cheaper online. It’s cheaper when it comes from outside the U.S. GlassesUnlimited, for instance, can afford to sell hundreds of different stylish frames fitted with prescription lenses for only $9.99 because its entire operation is based in Thailand.

“We don’t have big margins here. That’s how we are serving our clientele. That’s why we’re getting hundreds of orders on a daily basis, 70 percent of which come from the U.S. and Canada,” GU manager Sam Davis tells me. “We have virtually no expenses. We have our own home brand and do our own production. We don’t outsource anything.”

Based in the U.S., FramesDirect still undercuts retail-store prices for guaranteed designer goods.

“What we sell and what the brick-and-mortar stores sell are the exact same products,” Guy Hodgson says. “How can they afford to charge the prices they charge?”

Carlyle Group corruption
EXCERPT:
The district attorney said Gross served as the intermediary between the majority owners, Hudson Waterfront Associates of Hong Kong, and the buyers, Extell and the Carlyle Group [CYL.UL]. The deal was finalized in November 2005 for $1.76 billion and Hudson paid the bonus.

Prosecutors said Gross asked his bosses in Hong Kong to label the bonus as a fee payable to a shell corporation that Gross controlled called Itamar Capital.

"This falsification of Hudson's business records allowed Gross to receive the $1 million through Itamar thus evading New York City and State taxes," Morgenthau said.

At the time of the 2005 deal, the site on a former railyard along the Hudson River was the largest parcel of undeveloped land in Manhattan. It was bought from the Hong Kong consortium and Donald Trump. The real estate tycoon sued his partners in 2005 saying they sold it for much less than it was worth.

Trump lawsuit leads to indictment and plea in property sale
EXCERPT:
Investigators say that the Hong Kong partners, who operated under the name Hudson Waterfront Associates, told the buyers, the Extell Development Corporation and the Carlyle Group, to pay a $17 million finder’s fee to Fineview, a company based in the British Virgin Islands, Mr. Morgenthau said.

But prosecutors said they believed that Fineview was not a legitimate third-party broker and that the $17 million might have ended up in the hands of the Hong Kong partners.

Mr. Morgenthau said investigators were able to track the flow of the money, which was transferred to from the Channel Islands and to London, before ending up in Hong Kong in the hands of someone associated with the investors. By routing the $17 million through Fineview, Mr. Morgenthau said, the investors were able to avoid paying income taxes on it as part of the purchase.

Stephen Colbert to testify before congress in character video of Stephen on GMA
by Mof Gimmers on September 23, 2010 2 Comments

Stephen Colbert is going to testify before Congress. That was a weird sentence to type. He’s doing it in character too. Weirder still. The Comedy Central host is going to go to Capitol Hill and appear before a House Judiciary subcommittee for a hearing on immigration called “Protecting America’s Harvest.”

Seriously.

Colbert is going to speak alongside United Farm Workers (UFW) President Arturo Rodriguez about illegal immigrants taking people’s jobs. In character. A comedy character. A fictional, supposed to be funny, not real, character. In Congress. WHAT?
The comic spent a day working at a farm in New York last month after Rodriguez came on his show to discuss UFW’s “Take Our Jobs” campaign, which challenges the view that illegal immigrants are taking jobs from Americans.

Apparently, during his interview, Rodriguez talked about an initiative where the UFW invited the citizens of the USA (legal residents, natch) to replace the immigrant workers.

Only three people signed up to work in the fields. Colbert became the fourth.

And so, with the world clearly spinning anti-clockwise briefly, Colbert will be expected to talk about the agriculture industry’s dependence on illegal immigrants to pick fruits and vegetables, according CBS News reported.

Colbert appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America and sarcastically said:

“Republicans are concerned that I will make light of the responsibility of governance? That I will someway impede the smooth flow of the governing of this country? I take exception with that.”

Colbert has also announced that he would rally in Washington on October 30th with fellow Comedy Central host Jon Stewart in an event called ‘The March to Keep Fear Alive.’

Watch this video and feel your brains trickle out of your ears.

He then met with activists and world leaders to discuss the prospect of making this idea a reality, and on 7 September 2001 the United Nations passed a resolution declaring September 21 the International Day of Peace[1].

I feel much anxiety toward the possibility of military action against Iran or North Korea. I cannot imagine how the escalation of military action would play out, how many thousands, hundreds-of-thousands, millions would loose their lives in the end.

I can imagine, however, what the end result of diplomacy and peaceful resolution would be - a world in which each and every one of us is safer, more at ease, more peaceful.

So to that end, we CANNOT remain silent!

This madness must stop!

So when i really think about when an anarchist is not protesting and is living in a capitilist society how can he truly show an example of what he believes in?

what proffesion would the ideal anarchist possess?

I believe the best job for an anarchist is a teacher or more clearly a univeristy proffesor. A teacher can do his best to pass on different ways of thinking, a teacher can also be a mentor.

do you agree?

I believe an anarchist should always be an example of his beliefs yet i have a question.

How do i run from from everything that is corrupt or truly embodies capitilism?

if i am poor, how do i not buy fastfood, how do i keep my money safe ( i say safe in a oxy moronic way ) without using a bank, etc. what is the best way to escape the capitilist trap?

i feel these matters must be addressed, i know i can ride a bike, recycle, etc. but without becoming a homeless person living without money how can i show the best example of an anarchist?

do i even deserve to call myself one?

I think i have learned something, to beat something you must work through it,
no one listens to a bum with an anarchist sign, no one listens to a stoner hippie saying "peace".

do you agree?

i have come to the conclusion i must go to school, i must become a valid member of society and maybe bend over once or twice for an asshole boss, to in the end.... win?

is this what it means to be an anarchist? to have an opinion but have it not be heard because you arent worth the breath you take?

BE LOVED OR BE FEARED, which is the anarchist??????????

alleged "anarchists" who seek to climb the ladder of capitalist society, by attending university and seeking cushy, high paying jobs, are the lowest form of scum.

anyway, you have several options:

1. become a wage-master

2. become a wage-slave

3. become self-"employed"

4. become self-sustaining

5. ?

1 is bad because it's exploitative.

2 is bad because it sustains 1.

3 is good because it's neither 1 nor 2, but it's also bad (see 4).

4 is best because it doesn't sustain the division of labor (as 3 does), which most alleged "anarchists" utterly refuse to recognize as exploitative, because they don't want to do stuff like grow their own food. naturally, they'd rather explore their individuality and live life to the fullest, but in order for them to do so, someone else must take on the burden of sustaining them, which means that this other person won't be free to explore their individuality and live life to the fullest. being self-sustaining doesn't mean having no time for such pleasures, it just means less of it for those who currently have plenty of it, and more of it for those who currently have none.

5 is ...? there may be an option that avoids the problems of 4, but i haven't found it yet. or shall i say, i've heard a thousand of them, but they all reduce to attempts be alleged "anarchists" to rationalize privilege at the expense of others.

Garth Brooks The Change video

One hand
Reaches out
And pulls a lost soul from harm
While a thousand more go unspoken for
And they say what good have you done
By saving just this one
It's like whispering a prayer
In the fury of a storm.

(chorus)
And I hear them saying you'll never change things
and no matter what you do it's still the same thing
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world will know that it will not change me.

This heart still believes
The love and mercy still exist.
While all the hatreds rage and so many say
That love is all but pointless in madness such as this
It's like trying to stop a fire
With the moisture from a kiss.

And I hear them saying you'll never change things
and no matter what you do it's still the same thing
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world will know that it will not change me.

As long as one heart still holds on
Then hope is never really gone.

And I hear them saying you'll never change things
and no matter what you do it's still the same thing
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world we know never changes me

What I do is so
This world will know
That it will not change me

I'm 20 years old and in the Army, and right now I'm in Iraq where I've been for a year and a half. This song expresses so much of what we must do. I've seen so many bad things, but like the song says, I believe that love and mercy still exist. To me, being in the Army is not about fighting, it's about using what I can to help others. I have dedicated the last two years of my life to helping people, and I will continue to do so. Everytime I hear this song, I am reminded of why I do what I do, and it gives me the courage and strength to wake up every morning. I will never let anything stand in the way of my duty, and I will never give up.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Clearly playing the role of the aggressor, the NATO puppet regime of Mikhail Saakashvili has carried out a midnight sneak attack against Russian peacekeepers in the province of South Ossetia. Those peacekeepers have been there for 15 years under an agreement with Georgia. Saakashvili is a protégé and creature of Zbigniew Brzezinski, the foreign policy boss of the Barack Obama presidential campaign. As is explained in my book Obama- The Postmodern Coup: The Making of a Manchurian Candidate, Saakashvili was brought to power in 2003-2004 by a people power coup or CIA color revolution, directed by the Brzezinski clan and financed by George Soros, one of Obama's key financial backers. In a very real sense, it is the Obama campaign which has attacked Russia in South Ossetia.

By JANE WARDELL and JENNIFER QUINN, Associated Press Writers Jane Wardell And Jennifer Quinn, Associated Press Writers – 1 hr 16 mins ago
LONDON – Oil industry executives on Tuesday sharply criticized President Barack Obama's six-month ban on deepwater drilling, saying the world did not have enough other sources of oil to eliminate using deepsea rigs.
The massive oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico and the moratorium imposed by Obama dominated discussions at the World National Oil Companies Congress in the British capital, and a BP executive standing in for embattled BP CEO Tony Hayward was heckled by protesters.
Transocean Ltd. president and CEO Steven Newman, owner of the destroyed Deepwater Horizon rig that has spewed millions of gallons of oil into the Gulf, said Obama's ban, which is currently being reviewed by a U.S. federal judge, was unnecessary.

When David Rockefeller and Zbigniew Brzezinski founded the Trilateral Commission in 1973, the intent was to create a "New International Economic Order" (NIEO). To this end, they brought together 300 elite corporate, political and academic leaders from North America, Japan and Europe.

Few people believed us when we wrote about their nefarious plans back then. Now, we look back and clearly see that they did what they said they were going to do... globalism is upon us like an 8.6 magnitude earthquake.

The question is, "How did they do it?" Keep in mind, they had no public mandate from any country in the world. They didn't have the raw political muscle, especially in democratic countries where voting is allowed. They didn't have global dictatorial powers.

American Primacy And It's Geostrategic Imperatives

Key Quotes From Zbigniew Brzezinksi's Seminal 1998 Book

Note: For highly revealing news articles on elite groups in which Brzezinski is involved, click here.

"Ever since the continents started interacting politically, some five hundred years ago, Eurasia has been the center of world power."- (p. xiii)

"It is imperative that no Eurasian challenger emerges capable of dominating Eurasia and thus of also challenging America. The formulation of a comprehensive and integrated Eurasian geostrategy is therefore the purpose of this book.” (p. xiv)

"How America 'manages' Eurasia is critical. A power that dominates Eurasia would control two of the world's three most advanced and economically productive regions. A mere glance at the map also suggests that control over Eurasia would almost automatically entail Africa's subordination, rendering the Western Hemisphere and Oceania geopolitically peripheral to the world's central continent. About 75 per cent of the world's people live in Eurasia, and most of the world's physical wealth is there as well, both in its enterprises and underneath its soil. Eurasia accounts for about three-fourths of the world's known energy resources." (p.31)

“Never before has a populist democracy attained international supremacy. But the pursuit of power is not a goal that commands popular passion, except in conditions of a sudden threat or challenge to the public's sense of domestic well-being. The economic self-denial (that is, defense spending) and the human sacrifice (casualties, even among professional soldiers) required in the effort are uncongenial to democratic instincts. Democracy is inimical to imperial mobilization." (p.35)

Iran threatened by US-Israel since 2004
EXCERPT:
Eurasian geopolitics and US threats against Iran
By Alex Lantier
1 December 2007
This is the second article in a three-part series. Part one was posted November 30. Part three will be posted December 3.

The Bush administration’s warnings that a world war could be fought as a result of a US-Iranian confrontation inevitably raise the question: what other countries might be drawn into a military conflict set into motion by an attack on Iran by the United States?

Though this question cannot be answered with certainty, it is a fact that the two countries most actively shielding Iran in negotiations over sanctions against Iran’s nuclear programs—Russia and China—have been publicly and repeatedly described as potential targets of the US military.

Both have considerably increased their economic weight relative to the US in recent years—China due to the explosive development of its cheap-labor manufacturing base, Russia thanks to the high prices for oil and gas on world energy markets. Though their interests diverge in many other areas, Russia and China are united by their fear of the economic and military consequences of a US attack on Iran. From Washington’s standpoint, however, this unity is an intolerable threat to the world position of the US bourgeoisie.

US strategists have warned that they would do all in their power to prevent the emergence of a strategic competitor on the Eurasian landmass. In his 1998 book The Grand Chessboard, former Carter administration National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski warned: “It is imperative that no Eurasian challenger emerges, capable of dominating Eurasia and thus of also challenging America.”

Male white ego and Japan
Militarism and WW2 (1912 - 1945)

During the era of the weak emperor Taisho (1912-26), the political power shifted from the oligarchic clique (genro) to the parliament and the democratic parties.
In the First World War, Japan joined the Allied powers, but played only a minor role in fighting German colonial forces in East Asia. At the following Paris Peace Conference of 1919, Japan's proposal of amending a "racial equality clause" to the covenant of the League of Nations was rejected by the United States, Britain and Australia. Arrogance and racial discrimination towards the Japanese had plagued Japanese-Western relations since the forced opening of the country in the 1800s, and were again a major factor for the deterioration of relations in the decades preceeding World War 2. In 1924, for example, the US Congress passed the Exclusion Act that prohibited further immigration from Japan.

After WW1, Japan's economical situation worsened. The Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 and the world wide depression of 1929 intensified the crisis.

During the 1930s, the military established almost complete control over the government. Many political enemies were assassinated, and communists persecuted. Indoctrination and censorship in education and media were further intensified. Navy and army officers soon occupied most of the important offices, including the one of the prime minister.

Already earlier, Japan followed the example of Western nations and forced China into unequal economical and political treaties. Furthermore, Japan's influence over Manchuria had been steadily growing since the end of the Russo-Japanese war of 1904-05. When the Chinese Nationalists began to seriously challenge Japan's position in Manchuria in 1931, the Kwantung Army (Japanese armed forces in Manchuria) occupied Manchuria. In the following year, "Manchukuo" was declared an independent state, controlled by the Kwantung Army through a puppet government. In the same year, the Japanese air force bombarded Shanghai in order to protect Japanese residents from anti Japanese movements.

In 1933, Japan withdrew from the League of Nations since she was heavily criticized for her actions in China.

In July 1937, the second Sino-Japanese War broke out. A small incident was soon made into a full scale war by the Kwantung army which acted rather independently from a more moderate government. The Japanese forces succeeded in occupying almost the whole coast of China and committed severe war atrocities on the Chinese population, especially during the fall of the capital Nanking. However, the Chinese government never surrendered completely, and the war continued on a lower scale until 1945.

In 1940, Japan occupied French Indochina (Vietnam) upon agreement with the French Vichy government, and joined the Axis powers Germany and Italy. These actions intensified Japan's conflict with the United States and Great Britain which reacted with an oil boycott. The resulting oil shortage and failures to solve the conflict diplomatically made Japan decide to capture the oil rich Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) and to start a war with the US and Great Britain.

In December 1941, Japan attacked the Allied powers at Pearl Harbour and several other points throughout the Pacific. Japan was able to expand her control over a large territory that expanded to the border of India in the West and New Guinea in the South within the following six months.

The turning point in the Pacific War was the battle of Midway in June 1942. From then on, the Allied forces slowly won back the territories occupied by Japan. In 1944, intensive air raids started over Japan. In spring 1945, US forces invaded Okinawa in one of the war's bloodiest battles.

On July 27, 1945, the Allied powers requested Japan in the Potsdam Declaration to surrender unconditionally, or destruction would continue. However, the military did not consider surrendering under such terms, partially even after US military forces dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9, and the Soviet Union entered the war against Japan on August 8.

On August 14, however, Emperor Showa finally decided to surrender unconditionally.

Poem about my Rights
June Jordan
Even tonight and I need to take a walk and clear
my head about this poem about why I can’t
go out without changing my clothes my shoes
my body posture my gender identity my age
my status as a woman alone in the evening/
alone on the streets/alone not being the point/
the point being that I can’t do what I want
to do with my own body because I am the wrong
sex the wrong age the wrong skin and
suppose it was not here in the city but down on the beach/
or far into the woods and I wanted to go
there by myself thinking about God/or thinking
about children or thinking about the world/all of it
disclosed by the stars and the silence:
I could not go and I could not think and I could not
stay there
alone
as I need to be
alone because I can’t do what I want to do with my own
body and
who in the hell set things up
like this
and in France they say if the guy penetrates
but does not ejaculate then he did not rape me
and if after stabbing him if after screams if
after begging the bastard and if even after smashing
a hammer to his head if even after that if he
and his buddies fuck me after that
then I consented and there was
no rape because finally you understand finally
they fucked me over because I was wrong I was
wrong again to be me being me where I was/wrong
to be who I am
which is exactly like South Africa
penetrating into Namibia penetrating into
Angola and does that mean I mean how do you know if
Pretoria ejaculates what will the evidence look like the
proof of the monster jackboot ejaculation on Blackland
and if
after Namibia and if after Angola and if after Zimbabwe
and if after all of my kinsmen and women resist even to
self-immolation of the villages and if after that
we lose nevertheless what will the big boys say will they
claim my consent:
Do You Follow Me: We are the wrong people of
the wrong skin on the wrong continent and what
in the hell is everybody being reasonable about
and according to the Times this week
back in 1966 the C.I.A. decided that they had this problem
and the problem was a man named Nkrumah so they
killed him and before that it was Patrice Lumumba
and before that it was my father on the campus
of my Ivy League school and my father afraid
to walk into the cafeteria because he said he
was wrong the wrong age the wrong skin the wrong
gender identity and he was paying my tuition and
before that
it was my father saying I was wrong saying that
I should have been a boy because he wanted one/a
boy and that I should have been lighter skinned and
that I should have had straighter hair and that
I should not be so boy crazy but instead I should
just be one/a boy and before that
it was my mother pleading plastic surgery for
my nose and braces for my teeth and telling me
to let the books loose to let them loose in other
words
I am very familiar with the problems of the C.I.A.
and the problems of South Africa and the problems
of Exxon Corporation and the problems of white
America in general and the problems of the teachers
and the preachers and the F.B.I. and the social
workers and my particular Mom and Dad/I am very
familiar with the problems because the problems
turn out to be
me
I am the history of rape
I am the history of the rejection of who I am
I am the history of the terrorized incarceration of
myself
I am the history of battery assault and limitless
armies against whatever I want to do with my mind
and my body and my soul and
whether it’s about walking out at night
or whether it’s about the love that I feel or
whether it’s about the sanctity of my vagina or
the sanctity of my national boundaries
or the sanctity of my leaders or the sanctity
of each and every desire
that I know from my personal and idiosyncratic
and indisputably single and singular heart
I have been raped
be-
cause I have been wrong the wrong sex the wrong age
the wrong skin the wrong nose the wrong hair the
wrong need the wrong dream the wrong geographic
the wrong sartorial I
I have been the meaning of rape
I have been the problem everyone seeks to
eliminate by forced
penetration with or without the evidence of slime and/
but let this be unmistakable this poem
is not consent I do not consent
to my mother to my father to the teachers to
the F.B.I. to South Africa to Bedford-Stuy
to Park Avenue to American Airlines to the hardon
idlers on the corners to the sneaky creeps in
cars
I am not wrong: Wrong is not my name
My name is my own my own my own
and I can’t tell you who the hell set things up like this
but I can tell you that from now on my resistance
my simple and daily and nightly self-determination
may very well cost you your life

In what is being described as the first ever and most comprehensive study of the effects of genetically modified foods on mammalian health, researchers have linked organ damage with consumption of Monsanto’s GM maize.

Three varieties of Monsanto’s GM corn – Mon 863, insecticide-producing Mon 810, and Roundup® herbicide-absorbing NK 603 – were approved for consumption by US, European and several other national food safety authorities. The data used for this approval, ironically, is the same data that independent researchers studied to make the organ damage link.

Haiti to burn Monsanto seeds

May 25, 2010

Dispatch: Hungry Haitian Farmers Reject Monsanto Seeds Donation

A disturbing article in The Huffington Post highlights the campaign by a Haitian group that has committed to burning some 60,000 sacks of vegetable and corn seeds that Monsanto plans to donate to impoverished farming communities.

In mid-May, the Peasant Movement of Papay (MPP) issued an open letter calling Monsanto’s plans to donate seeds to Haitian farmers “a very strong attack on small agriculture, on farmers, on biodiversity, on Creole seeds ... and on what is left our environment in Haiti.” In the letter, the MPP expresses special concern about the import of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

However, Monsanto in an effort to keep the contribution clear of politics, isn't donating genetically modified seeds, but instead hybrid seeds.

"But because they are hybrid, or more likely because they are simply from Monsanto, MPP plans to burn them anyway," explains ACSH's Jeff Stier.

“People are obviously starving in Haiti, but a small number of radicals do not want Monsanto’s donation. Now, these farmers are being encouraged to reject badly needed food by groups that receive funding from a wide array of anti-capitalist activists, including the shadowy Tides Foundation."

UPDATE ON LYING, CRYING, CHEATING, WHORING, MURDERING Bill Clinton

I've added a list of Bill Clinton's Charity Works, Events & Causes to this blog.

I also want to add my thoughts on his apologizing for MK Ultra 'tests' and Haiti rice fiasco apology.

When I used to fight with my ex-husband he always said I never apologized. hmmmmmm I won't apologize for anything unless I expect to work on the problem. If I am gonna wake up in the morning and do the exact same thing I did that he seemed to think warranted an apology, I WON'T say I'm sorry. (He used to say he was sorry all the time and then he would do the same damn thing the next day that he apologized for.) That to me is insulting.

An example might be that I bithced him out cause of his smoking in bed. (Back in the day, I could be pretty harsh.) I wouldn't apologize cause I knew that if he didn't listen and did it again, I was gonna bitch him out again.

He on the other hand would put his cigarettes out in his plate. When I would say something about it, he would say he was sorry. That pissed me off cause he wouldn't think twice about it the next day when he did it again. WHY oh why say you're sorry if you aren't gonna change your bad habit? I DON'T GET IT.

Same as Bill Clinton apologizing about MK Ultra testing. He needs to not apologize and simply be put in jail cause he's a lying, cheating, murdering SOB and he's not gonna stop, eh?

What Bill Clinton's Mea Culpa Should Mean

As many of us have been paying close attention to the long-awaited passage of health care reform last week, it was easy to miss something else that was absolutely extraordinary. Former President Bill Clinton said at a recent Senate hearing that he regrets the impact in Haiti of the free trade policies that became a hallmark of his presidency.

"It may have been good for some of my farmers in Arkansas, but it has not worked. It was a mistake," Clinton said this month. "I had to live everyday with the consequences of the loss of capacity to produce a rice crop in Haiti to feed those people because of what I did; nobody else."

Sadly, he's right. The rapid lowering of agricultural trade barriers in Haiti combined with misguided U.S. food aid policy allowed American agribusinesses to flood the country with cheap surplus rice and force tens of thousands of local farmers out of business. According to the Associated Press, six pounds of imported rice now costs at least a dollar less than a similar quantity of locally-grown rice. So how can a Haitian farmer compete? The past 15 years have shown they simply can't.

Prior to the era of so-called "free trade", Haiti could feed itself, importing only 19 percent of its food and actually exporting rice. Today, Haiti imports more than half of its food, including 80 percent of the rice eaten in the country. The result is that Haitians are particularly vulnerable to price spikes arising from global weather, political instability, rising fuel costs and natural disasters, such as earthquakes that register 7.0 on the Richter scale. In fact, since the January earthquake, imported rice prices are up 25 percent.

It is especially fitting that President Clinton's mea culpa comes as the Jewish community worldwide prepares to observe Passover. The story of Passover is a stark reminder that communities cannot rely solely on others to provide for their needs. Until people are empowered to help themselves, in-kind assistance from the outside is useful only in the immediate aftermath of acute emergencies. Long-term needs must be met principally through a community-led approach. The lesson we take from Passover is that once the Israelites spoke out against slavery their prayers for freedom were finally answered.

Today, the people of Haiti are speaking as loud as they can. They desperately want a voice and central role in the reconstruction of their country, including the ability to meet the country's nutritional needs with food produced by Haitians in Haiti. In fact, President Rene Preval, himself a rice grower, has asked for international food aid to be replaced by financial support for farmers and the re-development of the agricultural sector. Preval knows that sustained success in rebuilding depends on food sovereignty, or the ability for Haitian farmers to grow their own crops and feed their own communities.

Is the international community getting the message? It's hard to say. The AP also reported that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided nearly four times as much in-kind food aid since January as it invests each year in Haitian agriculture. There is of course a need in grave circumstances for actual shipments of food - but for decades we've used in-kind food as a tool for destroying local agricultural markets on an ongoing basis, not as a last resort measure to be used in emergencies after all possibilities for local purchase have been exhausted. Until our government abandons a system that dumps surplus from American agribusiness on the developing world, its efforts at ending hunger will remain counterproductive. Then again, if you are the D.C. lobbyist for Big Ag, maybe that's the point. Maintaining the developing world's cycle of dependence is profitable business.

The time has come for us to pay attention, to heed the wishes of the Haitian people to be empowered. We must demand that the purpose of our work in Haiti is not to merely rebuild an export market for our surpluses, but rather to support a Haitian-led effort to create a country that can stand on its own, build a sustainable economy and feed its people. Over the next couple of months, Congress will be discussing how to allocate more than $1.6 billion in supplemental funding for Haiti. I urge you to contact your elected representatives and let them know that this money must be used to empower communities, not corporations.

Each year, during Passover, we say "let all who are hungry, come and eat." Then, ironically, we proceed to enjoy a wonderful meal with our families and friends while our front doors remain closed. If you will be celebrating Passover this year, I ask that you open your doors -- at least metaphorically -- and hear those calls from a country just a few hundred miles off our shore. Recognize that the people of Haiti may not need our food. Rather, they need us to listen as they tell us how we can really help.

UNICEF - latest money scandal at UN
Hey, anyone monitoring closely the UN's latest frolics in terms of money wastage, corruption and incompetence will be pleased to see that the international organisation remains true to its historical form. It's been discovered that the German arm of UNICEF diverted about 20% of all donations (roughly 20 mio of 100 mio Euros) to pay its staff nicely exorbitant salaries, make plenty of external consultants happy etc. It could well be that this year, possibly for the first time, UNESCO might have to give up the mantle of most corrupt (and arguably most pointless) or most inefficiently run outfit in the UN bureaucracy, and might have to pass it on to UNICEF. No doubt UNESCO will fight hard, and, according to well-informed insiders, will almost certainly be able to claim the title back in 2009. Still, for 2008 it seems a remarkably close race. The only bit that's really funny about this are serial resignation of UNICEF 'ambassadors' (invariably actors, sports people, and the like, trying to do good by the world's children without wanting to think too much about it). It's as if it had never before occurred to them that any money poured into a UN outfit or a UN affiliated outfit is like attempting to fill a bottom-less pit.

This, of course, goes very much to the heart of the international do-good industry. Many such organisations these days have sufficient cash at hand, and are prepared to pay salaries sufficiently high to advertise in eg. THE ECONOMIST, a magazine in which a half-page advertisement costs probably about 15000 GBP. The question one has to ask in this context is whether poverty fighting organisations really need to pay many of their staff more in terms of salaries than most of their donors take home in a good year.

Children of the World

EXCERPT from MYSTUFFS that reminds me of the Clinton ways.

Jill had moved out of mainstream America because of the dishonesty. The lack of humanity in the world was down right ugly.

Robert, on the other hand, had taken stock of his life and decided to live it in virtual reality. It was much better than trying to survive the greed and hypocricy of the ”real world”. At least on the internet, you didn’t come face to face with the enemy daily. They took on many identities and in doing so became the masses of the unknown. Somehow it took the human factor out of the picture. Hell, if you didn’t want to talk to them, you could ignore them, if you wanted to become young, you lied about your age, if you wanted to become beautiful you put someone else’s picture in your profile.

You could become anything you liked on the net. It was an open forum and anybody could join. It drew people from all walks of life. Similar to the environment of the real corporate world, business became even more sleezy but NOT quite so real.

If you couldn’t put a face to the people, how could you feel any kind of connection? How could you feel any responsibility? It reminded you of the eras of the past. People ran helter skelter and didn’t live by any rules.

The net provided many things to many people and the amount of knowledge you could find was infinitesimal. Decency didn’t matter in virtual reality. You could switch off the PC and become the person you pretended to be in real time.

You might be the biggest rogue on the internet but the best dad in the world at home. You could be a CEO’s assistant from nine to five and a porn star at http://pornforhire.net, in the twilight hours.

Amazing as it seems, even the angels of the earth became someone different when the opportunity presents itself. Virtual reality became home of the paranoid, the abusers, the stalkers, the users and the wannabes. It wasn’t a pretty picture but somehow because of the anonimity it drew people in by the droves. =================

It's time to transition

My son-in-law talked me into filing for my Social Security and now I'm in a dilemma. I didn't want to do it.

I am supposed to start receiving the money in May and I've noticed startling changes in my son-in-law. I know what it is and it upsets me. He wants control of the money so the head games have started. The reason I know this is my daughter told me the only time he is truly happy is when he figures things out and gets control.

I saw it in their marriage and I'm seeing it now. I am beside myself and don't want this to happen but it's coming I'm sure. That is why I wanted to move away.

I experienced it when he sold my Jaguar for me. I confronted it with him that he didn't give me all the money and he never denied it.

It isn't that I care about the money, it's the way he goes about it.

He quit buying groceries and he says things in front of me that makes me skeptical of his motives. For one thing, why didn't he have this shortage of money before now?

I have asked him a few time to take me and the kids to the movies and he says it's too expensive. I've asked him to buy veggies and fruits and he complains that they are outrageous and simply ignores my requests.

I know he is a good man but these head games cost him his marriage and now, I don't want to deal with it.

I told him the other day I was considering moving in with my son and his family and I simply want to leave. He immediately went grocery shopping and bought everything I ask for.

I see his ways coming out in the kids too and it makes me quiver. I don't know how to address these things with him and simply want to move.

I don't really want to move in with my son but I guess it's the only option till I can get on my feet.

I probably won't have access to the internet as my son is very poor and I know he hasn't had internet for a time now.

Damn it all anyways. I guess I used this time I've had at my son-in-laws for good things but think it may be coming to an end soon.

I wish I could be around people that work on what I work on. It would be nice to have a voice in the search and research but I guess for now, it isn't meant to be.

Your boss is spying on you
Psssst--Your Boss Is Spying on You!
These days, even your instant messages are tracked.
by Joanna Boydak, LiveCareer

Think your privacy is protected at the office? Think again. In fact, if you're reading this at work, there's a very good chance that your boss is, too.
While we no longer live in the days when Henry Ford could freely inspect his employees' homes, technological advances have erased the idea of employee privacy at work.

Employers monitor employees not only to rate employee performance but also to assess and prevent security risks, fraud, and sexual harassment. Modern workers are exposed to a wide variety of privacy-invasive procedures such as drug and psychological testing, video surveillance, phone monitoring, location tracking, computer monitoring, email filtering, instant-message archiving, and keystroke logging.

Industries notorious for their extensive practice of employee monitoring include financial services, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, insurance, and government. But no one with a job is safe from workplace privacy invasions.

How private are your activities at your workplace? Not very. Here are some things you need to know:

Your employer can--and likely does--read your e-mail. More companies than ever are reading employee email. Nearly three-fourths use technology tools to sort the email, but 40 percent actually have a real person who reads and reviews emails. So if you're one of the 79 percent of employees who use a work email account to send or receive personal messages, beware! And you're not even safe using your personal account on your work computer, since emails are sent through the same server, giving employers access to everything.

Your company probably tracks your phone use. Although the law varies among states, employers often monitor employee phone use. According to a recent surveillance study, 51 percent of companies track the numbers dialed and time spent on the phone, 12 percent record phone conversations, and 8 percent review voicemail messages. Some states don't require a warning to employees that this extensive monitoring is in effect; you can find out by asking your HR department.

Your employer may monitor your personal text messages on your company cell phone. Employees of private companies should have no expectation of privacy when using company-issued handheld communication devices. However, unlike emails stored on the company server, text messages are archived by cell phone companies--and many employers do not pay for access.

Even your IM conversations aren't sacred. Back in 2005, only 10 percent of companies tracked their employees' instant messages. However, as IMs have become more pervasive, more companies are investing in tracking software for IM monitoring.

Your boss can monitor your Facebook account, even if you restrict public viewing. If you access your favorite social media profiles on your work computer, you give your employer instant access to your entire profile. In fact, a recent study reveals that more than 70 percent of corporations have access to employees' use of social media.

Your employer can access your personal photos, videos, music, and more. Do you ever charge your phone or camera through your work computer? According to Jeffrey Keener, senior security engineer at Guidance, a company that produces company security software, "If you had an iPod or a digital camera charging through the USB port, we could browse all the files that were stored on the device."

To top it all off, your boss can probably track your every move. If your workplace has a CCTV (closed-circuit TV) system, then you already know you're being watched. But there are subtler ways for employers to track your location. Employee ID "key badges" help employers track where you've been, security software can track how long you spend away from your computer, and the GPS program on your company-issued cell phone can provide your exact location at all times.

With some computer-monitoring programs priced as low as $30, more and more employers see employee monitoring as a valuable investment. So the next time you decide to surf the Web for non-work-related reasons, send a personal email through your work email account, or sneak out for an extra long lunch, just remember that you're likely being watched.
